Default Louvers

I'm considering installing some louvers in my RV-8 cowl bottom.

Can anyone compare/contrast the louvers supplied by:

1) Vans
2) Avery Tools
3) Aviation Tech Products
4) Anyone else?

The Vans louvers are about 75% less money than the others, but they're made out of 020. The Avery louvers are advertised at 032 aluminum. I don't know about Aviation Tech Products.

I'm looking for the narrowest ones I can find. There isn't much space between the cowl scoop and the outside bottom corner of the cowl.

I installed Bob Avery's on my -8. Temps are very good (in Texas).

Do you have a cowl scoop? Did you install them on the bottom of the cowl on either side of the scoop? The look like they might be almost too wide to go there...

If you could post a picture, that would be great. The other pictures I've seen are on -6s, -7s, and -9s with wider cowls.

Thanks.

Default Louvers

Geoff,

I obtained my louvers that are on my RV-9A from RaceAce.
http://www.raceace.com/products.html#productsside

Aluminum Side Louver Set - one pair.
Semi-Gloss Black
powdercoated.
(2-11/16"x12-1/4" per panel)

Send me an email off line and I can forward some pictures of the install.

I'll try to get you a picture this weekend. I do have a scoop - I'm carbureted. I put them on the outside of the cowl. I trimmed them very slightly just for appearance, but they are the stock Avery louvers, and they work just fine.
