Using shower of sparks mag with GRT EIS-4000

I'm thinking of connecting the tach input of the EIS-4000 to the retard breaker (shower of sparks) of the left mag. Has anyone done this? I'm pretty sure it will work. Of course I'll be going through the required resistor first.

The nice thing is you'll be able to monitor RPM while checking BOTH mags.
