Question about US regs/endorsements
Hi Guys,
I've been reading this forum a bit lately (great site by the way) and have noticed that there are endorsements in the US that we don't seem to have here in Oz... the ones I am specifically wondering about are the 'high performance' and 'complex' endorsements...
What specifically constitutes a high performance or complex aircraft?
Cheers,
Matt

Silly, really....
.....when you think about it......200HP plus. You're "grandfathered" if you've flown an airplane with 200HP + before 1987
Regards,

complex. HP.
Hello,
Complex:
an airplane that has a retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch propeller.
Or, in the case of a seaplane, flaps and a controllable pitch propeller
High Performance:
an airplane with an engine of more than 200 horsepower
A Piper Arrow, with the engine rated at exactly 200 hp, is not considered High performance. A twin engine Piper Apache is also not high performance because neither of the 2 engines are over 200 hp, even though together it's over 300 hp. go figure.

High perf = >200HP
Complex = the aircraft has a variable pitch prop, Flaps, AND a retractabe gear.

In Canada a high performance aircraft is set by the stall speed and or the maximum speed, not the HP, landing gear ,flaps or propeller type. I can't remember the stall speed I think it is 65kts and the max speed is 250kts. If I am wrong on these speeds please let me know.
