Default Engine Bolts

Hi All,

I am installing my new replacement forward sump for the Superior Air modification. I need to replace some of the 1/4" X 1" bolts that bolt the sump to the engine.

I am ignorant regarding engine bolts. The thread goes all the way to the bolt head. Are these AN bolts? High strength AN bolts or what??? I believe the instructions call for 100" lbs of torque. (Will double check before torqueing).

Also can you get them from Aircraft Spruce? Or where would you purchase them.

I appreciate your help.

Carl,

The Lycoming part number is LW25-1.00. You can purchase them through Omaha Airplane Supply 800-228-9400. There may be a minimum quantity, not sure.

Smile STD-1204

My older Lycoming O-360 Parts Manual gave a STD-1204 number and called it a "Bolt 1/4-20, 15/16 long, hex head"

AERO cross references this to a LW-25-0.94.

They are in stock at $1 each here....

They are standard grade 8, 1/4-20 cad. plated bolts, but I would still use the correct engine ones...

Post Here is a worthwhile read.

This website page should be read by anyone who has any questions in there mind about bolts, rivets, or nuts. It explains torque values and why, also explains how to identify the bolts with the marks on the head. Enjoy..
