Yes, that's the "takeoff" flap position. The L-39's handling characteristics are a bit sloppy below 200 knots. The max flap limit speed is 160 KIAS, so the formation must have been operating between 100-160 KIAS. It's not particularly fun for the leader of such a formation, but the wingmen sure look like they're having fun!

Yea, we were around 160-170 KIAS. His fuel flow was quite a bit better when he was leading the formation.
Oh BTW, that prop on the go-kart is from a swamp boat and is the main push for it! He said top speed on it was around 60mph!

ummmmm, that black RV with the star......yeah...they forgot to put the prop on....stupid homebuilders.....maybe that guy w/ the kart would sell him his?
