Default XP400 in an RV-8

I'm jumping way ahead here since I don't even have the first rivet for the RV8. I like to plan/dream ahead. I understand the RV8 is meant for up to 200HP. Have people put in more. I was considering the XP400 which is 220-250HP. What mods would have to be done? Would I be better off with a Rocket? I'm trying to stick with the RV8.

Thanks! I'm new here and hope to meet many of you in the future.

Default Yep...IO-540's

Hi Pete,
Yep, there are quite a few "Super" 8's flying around with 260 horse Lyc's, cruising around 230 MPH and climbing in excess of 3000 FPM!

Our buddy "Kahuna" on this site has one in Atlanta.

Regards,

Default Mucho Power RV8

for those with pumped up RV8's, were any structual mods done for example to the firewall? Or, are you just more aware that up high, your TAS might be in the Mach #'s???

What is the highest reported TAS in an RV8 or 7???
