Default Source for asbestos washer or equivalent?

Being uncomfortable with Van's suggestions for wire penetrations of the firewall (basically it's plastic bushing + RTV), I am following Tony Bingelis' suggestions of using stainless steel grommet shields along with RTV where necessary. He suggests using an asbestos washer between the shield and the normal rubber or plastic grommet. However, I can't find any asbestos washers at the normal a/c supply places. Any recommendations on where to find them or a suitable alternative?

Thanks.

I like the ones from Safe-Air. EPM.AV makes them too, but SafeAir is cheaper. http://www.safeair1.com/SA1_products...thru_Intro.htm

Arguing on the internet is like having a competition to see who can hit a brick wall the hardest. You may win, but you're still an idiot.

I don't see any asbestos washers listed there. I'm not looking for alternative pass through methods, just asbestos washers or something equivalent.

Default I doubt you will find any...

asbestos material is not very common any more since it has been determined to be a carcinogen.

Exclamation Fiberfrax

This ceramic product should be essentially the same as asbestos....

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo.../fiberfrax.php

..at one time (still?) Van recommended this as a lining on cowlings for the areas that are in close proximity to the exhaust sytem.
