Not sure what to do. I'll probably just go ahead and run the wire back to the battery. Length is not an issue anymore, since it needs to go to a CB and a toggle switch anyway. Duh.
Revisiting this topic (since I'm still not flying yet!), I re-read this thread and others and picked up something basic that I'd evidently skipped over -- direct battery connection allows the EI to keep working in the event of an in-flight emergency requiring shutting off the master switch. Duh.

Isn't it amazing how some people (that would be ME) can apparently not read the advice of others? Sheesh ...

Thanks for the help, guys. It just takes a little time for it to sink in sometimes ...

Another update on this topic ...

I wired the LSE power yesterday. Although I still need to wire in an inline fuse at the battery end, the rest of the shielded wire is in place to the 5A CB, the toggle switch and the LSE unit. I jumped the shield around each component.

However, on the advice of many, I think I'll use the airframe ground initially. It will always be a ground, despite master being off in an emergency situation. However, if I end up with noise, I can always just rewire it back to the battery.

Thanks for all of the help, guys.
