Default Flap position sensor

Any ideas on how to attach the Ray Allen POS-12 Position sensor to the flap control arm? This is being installed to connect to an Advanced EFIS.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Here is how I did mine:

I was into model airplanes before I started building the 7A. The linkage is a model airplane pushrod with Sulivan clevis'

That's so straight forward I might try it.

Hey Guy and Alton, I am interested in this too.

Is the Ray Allen a variable resistor?

I cross posted this in the AFS forum as well.

What do we know about how the Ray Allen unit works with the AFS EFIS?

I am thinking that a variable resistor is what we need, no?

The Ray Allen sensor is just that, a varible resistor. The wiring diagram for the AFS-35/3400 already has the correct color codes for this sensor. As a matter of fact, I just looked at the drawing, it even list the POS-12 sensor.

Alton, I was just researching this now too!

Hmmmm, cool stuff!

Tell me about these model airplane parts. What exactly are they called and where do you get them?

take a look at this:
http://www.greatplanes.com/accys/gpmq3710.html

I use a threaded rod on one end with a 2-56 threaded clevis. On the other end, since there are no threads, I cut to length and solder on an un-threaded clevis.

The threaded ones I use: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRU46&P=ML

The solder: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...EARCH=GPMQ3811+

The higher you mount the sensor, the better the angle. Where I have it located, it strokes smooth with no binding. YMMV.

Use the tower link http://www.towerhobbies.com/ if you don't have a hobby store locally.

I actually came up with that independently. After the fact, I was looking at Dan's site, we did it almost exactly the same. I yield to the master.

I did something very similar on the 10, except it is mounted on the exterior of the fuse, at the wing root.

An "L" bracket bent from .063, is used to mount the sensor, R/C hardware for the linkage.

The hardest part is matching the travel.

Good luck, easy project.
