Default Low cost collision avoidance system

If this system finds its way into everyday cars it may have applications for aircraft use.

The following from the latest NASA Tech Briefs,

?European researchers have demonstrated a collision warning system for cars that could alert the driver several seconds in advance of an imminent impact. The device could save thousands of lives and usher in the first steps towards the "connected car." The system, based on inexpensive software, is called the Collision Warning System (CWS), and is the brainchild of the Reposit "relative position for collision avoidance systems" project.?
