Default Garmin GPS Position

It looks like the only place to mount a 396/496 is vertically in my panel. Can this be done? I know the button labels will be "sideways", but can the screen information be rotated 90 deg?

Thanks, MArk

I don't think so. Maybe you should consider mounting it in a Ram mount or some similaroff panel mount. I like to carry mine in my lap.

No, that isn't an option with the 396/496.

For my 6A, I crafted a Garmin 296 GPS mount that attaches to the left hand triangular piece next to the panel.

I sat in the plane and got the angles just right, for best clarity. The mount is attached with three thumb screws into nut plates; and uses the Garmin detachable mount.
