Default Dynon AOA pitot tube-please view image and comment

Gents,

Please look at the image attached. I was just starting the process of installing the Dynon AOA pitot tube and am on hold until I resolve this concern.

It appears that the forward 3/16" tube is inline with the forward screw boss location. I am very concerned that drilling and tapping the through hole for the boss will damage the 3/16" tube. Not to mention the screws possibly crushing the tube. It seems that possibly the tube was out of position when potted during manufacturing.

For those who have the Dynon AOA pitot tube that isn't installed yet would you please look at your tube and let me know if indeed the forward 3/16" tube is inline with the boss as well.

Please let me know.

I did the same thing last week and had the same concern. Use a drill stop and set it to the correct depth. I set mine just short of the aluminum tube then finished the hole by hand.

The information that I post is just that; information and my own personal experiences. You need to weight out the pros and cons and make up your own mind/decisions. The pictures posted may not show the final stage or configuration. Build at your own risk.

Mine's the same way. I'm going to drill with a stop as well. I bought some 1/4" screws for attaching, so shouldn't even get through the boss.
