Default Rigging the elevator pushrod

How do you rig the elevator pushrod running from the rear control stick to the elevator bellcrank. (F-440 in my case) It has to rotate +/- 20 degrees or more with aileron movement.
It doesn't seem like the rod ends have that much room to move once they are locked down with the jam nut.
What am I missing here?
Thanks

Default Small OD washers . . .

On my 7A, the plans call for small OD washers (they look like metal O-rings) on either side of the rod ends. The are a pain to install, but they provide a wider range of motion.

My 9A plans call for the same shiny/teensy washers. And as been said, installation of same is a royal PITA!

Default Tiny washers

Van's has them. They are 'WASHER 5702-75-60', eleven cents ea.
Add the crating and shipping charge, and I will have some very expensive washers. Won't get here until next Thursday, what with the weekend and holiday.
Thanks for the help.
