Default Van's Starter Contactor - internal diode?

Gang,

Does the starter contactor that Van's sell have the internal spike catcher diode or is this something that all starter contactors already contain. I am looking at the Z drawings in the Aero Connection book trying to understand the symbols and see that the drawings show the need for a diode on the wiring on the starter contactor. I see that a separate diode is needed on the battery contactor, I believe Vans sells one for this.

You have to add your own. Buy a IN4006 diode from the local electronics store. They cost less then 50 cents in single lots.

Default No internal diodes..

..on the contactors. You'll need to add them. Very necessary to do as each will generate several hundred volts when power is removed from the coil.

Default Thanks

I just received my last order from Vans so the next time I need some parts I'll add those two diodes to the list.

Thanks again
