Default IS IT OK TO USE BRASS??

I had to remove the oil pressure fitting by the right top motor mount. It was not tight enough. Took a hack saw and cut it in half to remove due to the lack of space.

Now the only way is to use a 1/8" 45 st el and then a -4 to 1/8 npt. It is ss... but the st el is brass!! I can't find a steel one. What do you think..

was the fitting that you removed by any chance a restricter fitting? You may have to buy one from Lycoming.

Default I think so

Gasman,
I think brass is fine for this application.

If you want to find some really neat fittings just find the nearest industrial hydraulic shop that sells Parker fittings.

I was using some fiittings at work the other day that were 1/8" brass elbows with one side male and the other female. Basically a street ell but in a super small package. Wish I had a photo of one, maybe I can post one later.

Mark
