longeron twist

So, my next longeron problem...
When I applied the twist in the main longerons, on one of them I put the vice grips on too close to the beginning of the twist (the 28 1/.4" mark where the longeron was clamped in a vice). When I applied the twist, instead of being gradual I ended up with a localized deformation near that 28 1/4" point. The upper flange buckled and folded a bit as the twist was applied sharply in that spot.

Did anyone else experience this? I think using a hammer and vice I can smooth this out to look reasonable...

Phil I suspect you can work it out and be OK. Since I can't see the physical piece it's hard to comment. If it were any piece other than the main longeron I would probably press on.

Since this is the only one piece structural member that runs full length front to aft, I would recomend running this one by the man himself....

If you do have to replace it, look in a steel supply yard for a new piece of angle. Saves a lot on shipping. I had to replace mine and a 20' piece cost me $15.00.
