Default Way OT but had to share: sonic boom

I'm a new FL resident and was just startled by the sonic boom of the shuttle returning to Kennedy. That was awsome.

I am in Merritt Island, and have been startled from sleep by the boom-boom when it lands at night. A big thrill is to be out tooling around, you look up towards the east as something in the eye caught your eye, and it is a shuttle being ferried on a 747 flying down the coast. Great stuff!

That's how you tell who the tourests are in Florida. My family was eating in a resturant in Orlando when a Shuttle mission took off after dark. Nearly emptied the place, me included. Man, what a sight.

I heard it in Warner Robins, GA....about 5 minutes after it has passed 20 or 30 miles south west of here. Of course they do Depot maintance on F15's at RAFB, which involves a supersonic flight test at the end. So we get 'em all the time (1X a week, mabye).
