Default icom a210/ gps 496 connections

Has anyone made connections between these two devices? What wire from the gps496 goes where on the a210?I have an instruction page from Icom that indicates the "blue"(data out) wire from the 496 goes to pin#2 on the A210 and the "yellow"(data in) wire goes to pin#1 of the A210. But Garmin said they don't support this. Thanks

It's just serial data. Nether the GPS or the Radio know what brand of box the data comes from. Garmin says they don't support it because it's not a Garmin radio. Tell them you have an SL-40. They'll support it--it's a supported function. If you have many electronics, you'll be sending the same serial data from your GPS to the EFIS, A210, Autopilot, etc.

Besides the rant, I don't have firsthand knowledge yet. I'll be wiring my panel soon, so if you you still need help in a few weeks, PM me.

Arguing on the internet is like having a competition to see who can hit a brick wall the hardest. You may win, but you're still an idiot.
