Default Who's balanced their wheels/tires?

How many have had your wheels balanced and how many haven't? By "balanced" I mean by some sort of proper balancer (computer balancer at the auto tire store?).

I'm sure the majority have not, so if you HAVE please let us know if it was worth it or had some effect, especially on gear leg shimmy (rod-geared models).

Thanks!

Default No, but I know someone who has.

Randy,

My flying buddy recently went the route of balancing the wheel/tires. No fancy spin balance like the cars get but an old fashioned gravity-based aircraft wheel balancer. While it did not completely solve the shimmy problem it lessened it to an acceptable level.

I don't recall the exact amount of weight required for each main but one of them required rotating the tire on the rim to reduce the required weight.
