Default To Old to lay inside/under panel-So,Access Holes

I am not much of a metal person when it comes to cutting holes in a perfectly beautiful piece of skin. I need some advice as to how to go about the process of cutting/doubling/and cutting a piece to put into the hole. I want to cut a couple of access holes of about 6 x 8 inches just before the firewall on the top. Pictures would surely help.

I did it. There are a truckload of pictures of my setup on my build log if you're interested in going to look.

Default take a look at this thread.

Here is one that was done to a -10, scroll down to the link on Deems Davis's post.

Before you do any cutting, you might want to check with Vans as to the necessary reinforcements needed to make up for any weakening your access hole causes.

Good luck,

Default Access Panel

Van's sales a VA-195D Access Hatch and a VA-195C Access Hatch Doubler for an access hole to be cut into the bottom skin of the RV-10 Wing for access to the stall warning.

You might consider ordering in such items and looking at the RV-10 plans (located at http://www.myrv10.com/Plans/WingPlans.html) scroll down to Section 19.

I don't remember the exact size of the hatch but it is big enough to get you hand inside and do some work.
