Default Reducing Oil Consumption???

Another thread about removing the vac pump drive assembly has prompted me to say why I removed my drive assembly. I have no vac system so my local aircraft engine shop suggested that I remove the drive assembly and replace it with a cover plate. His anecdotal opinion is that the gear in the drive assembly is very close to the breather outlet (0-320) and contributes to extra oil being flung out the breather. I can’t say for sure how effective this was because I also moved the breather outlet closer to the exhaust pipe at the same time the assembly was removed. However, before there was some oil on the belly, now there is virtually none. Also my engine consumes very little oil. Removing the drive assembly also saves 430 grams weight.
