Default Changing Van's 40 amp shunt to 60 amp

I have already installed the Van's 40 amp shunt on the firewall, but now I think I would like to install the Plane Power 60 amp alternator that Van's sells. I would like to find a 60 amp shunt with the same footprint as the 40 amp one. Can anyone tell me who manufactures the shunt sold by Van's and if you have any sources for a 60 amp version? The other options are the 40 amp alternator sold by B & C, but I would like to avoid the extra expense of the external regulator that they sell, or the 35 amp alternator Van's sells, but I have read of some reliability questions.
Thanks in advance.

PS Took the kit to the airport last weekend! Finally got a hangar. Now I have room to install the engine mount!

Check the archives here and on the Matronics List, using "Ammeter & Shunt" for lots of ideas and answers.

Basically, if you're using Van's -40/+40 ammeter gauge, then the shunt will still work with a 60 amp alternator. Robert L. Nuckolls discusses this in one of the Matronic question/answers. Depending on how it's wired, it would just go off scale in a worst case.

If the shunt is changed to a 60 amp, a 40 scale would be off. I kept the 40 amp setup with a 60 amp alternator. Mine is wired like the Van's drawings, in addition to a volt meter and low voltage warning light from Van's.

Default Thanks for the response

Thanks for the response. I had thought about keeping the 40 amp shunt and meter, so it was nice to verify it will still work.
