Default SL-00069 Posted for RV-14/14A Heat Muff Ends Inspection

Van's has posted a Service Letter, SL-00069, which advises owners to inspect the heat muffs installed on flying airplanes for cracks. If cracked parts are found, a process to send a report with photos to Van's is specified.

Revised parts are available for replacement. We have parts on hand as of the date of this post for about 70 aircraft. We ask that people please not order parts for now, unless they actually need to replace broken heat muff ends. We will be receiving additional parts over the next few months. The RV-14 kit assembly instructions have been revised accordingly.

Replacement is not required unless cracks/damage is found.

Of course, heat muffs and exhaust systems should always be inspected carefully during any condition inspection. This Service Letter directs annual reinspection until the heat muff ends are replaced, but that's just for emphasis. Please always perform a complete condition inspection.

Yes. All RV-14/14A aircraft.

OP-62 has been updated along with KAI section 48. Both revisions are on the service info section of our web site in the Revisions and Changes category.
