Default Quickdrain torque? - Help!

Hi All,

I need to replace one of the wing quickdrains on my RV9A. How much torque should I install the new one with?

Also, does anyone know where I can get some of the rubber O-rings used in the valve?

Thanks!

Quick drains are pipe thread (1/8" IIRC) and torque specs really don't apply. As my daddy taught me, it's basically a "tighten until it breaks, back off a quarter turn" operation. Apply a little Fuel lube/ EZ turn, tighten until it's good and tight and doesn't leak. If I had to give a rough guess, I'd say somewhere in the 75-100 in/lb range, but don't quote me on that.

There's not much pressure on that so it doesn't need much. Use some thread seal compound and just snug it up. It won't leak.

Default Thanks guys!

My intuition was that 15 ft/lbs was too much. Good to get confirmation. Sounds like 1/2 that may be about right.

O-Ring question still open, but its for the next time. I've got the new valves for this repair.

The O-ring is a whopping 18 cents.
