Anti-Fatigue Mats
I'm interested in putting some anti-fatigue mat around my benches. Just wondering if any builders out there have a recommendation for a specific type of mat.
I found several links online, such as this one: http://www.matsmatsmats.com/commerci...i-fatigue.html
I don't have any experience with this stuff, i.e. to know if "thicker = better" or what. Any words of wisdom or specific product recommendations are much appreciated.

I just have the cheap foam squares that interlock together - they are available at harbor freight, lowes, costco, etc. I think it is 10-15$ for four of them, each about 2' square or so. They seem to work OK.

We have them in our tavern we own I am only in there after work.We also own a const. co. where we have them at our shop. The mechanics at the shop say the arent any help. They are on thejr feet all day and if they helped believe me they would want them everywhere. On the other hand the girls at the bar who work 4-6 hrs after getting up at4pm to work think they are it. IMHO a pair of Nike shoxare just as nice plus they go with you where a mat stays where you lay it. Good Luck YMMV

Children's pads
I picked up some mats from Home Depot.
They are interlocking and come in grey
or bright colors. I think the colored ones
are put under play equipment for children.
HD puts the grey ones at their checkouts.
They also are great for working under the A/C
in the hangar.

Harbor Freight
Hi Dan,
I bought mine at Harbor Freight, on sale for $7.99/4-pack. They work great, but they do tend to tear if you drag a bandsaw across them (don't ask). Anyway, their cheap, but they work.

I found some leftover cheap padded carpet which I believe helped. Being cheap, I was able to put it next to my two work benches and by the airplane. The only problem with the carpet is it holds dirt and shreds a little, but I was better off with it than without it.

Better than bare concrete
I got mine at Sam's. Not sure what I paid. But I do like them. Not only for standing on but for kneeling on as well. Like when I have to pray to the great RV gods to not let this most recent "little" transgression come back and bite me in the butt later on!

Most of the good quality restaurant kitchen mats are grease resistant and last a long time. Guys working behind the line for 10-12 hours cannot do without them for both comfort and slip resistance. They take lots of abuse without falling apart.
It really comes down to how much you want to spend. I bought the cheapo stuff from Harbor Freight and they are worthless. I use them more as knee pads and mats to lay on my back.
Go to instawares.com and pull up the vendor Teknor Apex to see a variety of what's available. They sell to the public or you may have a restaurant supply store in your area such as Superior. Even Costco at times sells good quality mats. This way you can see the it before you buy.

Dan...
I bought some interlocking foam floor padding at "Big-Lots"...kind of a clearance store here in Salina. The matts were so cheap...I even considered covering the entire garage floor with them. As it turned out, I only did the area around my benches...The relief in stress and fatique from not standing on the concrete was incredible....Go for it.
