LED Landing/Recognition Lights
Greetings,
We are a new company from Idaho that introduced a brand new product at Oshkosh this year... a wing mounted LED landing/taxi/recognition light. It has been discussed under the "Cheap Strobe System" thread, but I must wanted to post a separate message here for RV owners to let you know about it.
I have attempted to contact the webmaster of this site to inquire about banner advertising, but so far I have not receive a response.
This particular light produces about 1200 lumens of light on 24 Watts of power. We forecast its useful lift to be around 50,000 hours so it will never need to be replaced once it has been installed (wing mounted).
I hope this message isn't considered SPAM, if it is, the moderator can kill this thread (but please first contact me about banner ads!).

Coverage...
Dean,
.....your web site does not seem to specify the angular coverage of your lights.
What is the 50% angular coverage in the vertical and horizontal planes?
thanks .....gil in Tucson

Gil,
6 of the lenses are a 10 degree cone while 2 of them are 10 degrees vertical, 40 degrees horizontal (for short-final and taxi, as well as recognition light visibility at angles off either side of your nose).
We ran our system side by side with an RV-7 at Oshkosh that was at the Kitbuilders booth (great bunch of guys from Toronto, Canada) and we clearly put out more light into a larger area, yet still had the forward range. The RV-7 had a pair of halogen Duckworks lights.
I wish we had a better way of showing how well these work at night, threre's nothing like seeing it first-hand.

Thanks Dean.... I presume (sometimes a bad thing... ...) that all of the LEDs are in the same plane with all of the axes facing forward (i.e., no tilting of the 6 LEDs)

Gil,
That is correct, the lenses are all aimed directly forward.
We are planning on exhibiting at Copper State, so you should be able to see us there...

I was there for that demonstration, and I can tell you those units put out A LOT of light. Very impressive little unit, were I not such a cheapskate...

We have recently dropped the price because we were able to forecast more units and thus spread out our manufacturing costs. People who already bought them will be credited the difference between what we started out selling them for, and what we are going to be selling them for.
The price is on the product and ordering pages, its $350 for one or $650 for a pair with the mounting bracket and hardware.

These lights look great but what are 1200 lumens comparable to in candlepower?
