Default Towing to the airport

Not that I'm anywhere near this point yet, just planning ahead.

Can a taildragger be towed to the airport for final assembly on its own gear? I'm thinking, get a dolly from U-Haul and strap the tail end to it, then tow the airplane backwards on its mains. Would this completely munch the bearings, or cause other damage?

Default Towing

I have done it with a Cessna 150 by removing the nose gear fork ,then fabricated a bracket bolted to the tail skid that I put a hitch coupler on.It worked great. Went about 40 miles total, and kept speed below 50mph. I have seen a similar bracket bolted to an RV tail wheel fork that did fine also. Unfortunately, I have no pictures. We used a "chase" car to avoid wiring lights, although the truck tail lights were easily visible.

I had thought about directly connecting the tailwheel fork to the drawbar, but wasn't sure it would work. Looks like you'd have to be very gentle with turning radius. Obviously it worked for you.
