Default Tip: Transfer Punches, Part Deux

This morning, I read the RV-8 instructions for drilling the fiberglass canopy skirts. Because the skirt must be drilled to pick up existing holes in the canopy frame, the procedure outlined in the manual calls for using a combination of homemade templates, intersecting lines AND a builder fabricated hole (strap) duplicator as depicted on DWG. 46. Whew! My immediate thoughts were to simply use an apparently little known tool and technique I posted here some time ago......

Using transfer punches, the total amount of time to locate and precisely pilot drill the right side canopy skirt was about 30-40 minutes.
