Default Magnet Tricks

If you've ever had trouble installing washers or nuts in difficult places such as attaching the rudder a small neodymium magnet can make the task much easier. I put the magnet on the head of the bolt. When you stick the washer on the other end the magnet sucks is up and holds it secure. The nut also gets held on the end of the bolt so you just need to fiddle around a little to get the threads started. No more fishing around for dropped nuts and washers.

I use a donut shaped one that is about 3/8" OD and 1/4" thick. The size is not critical and they are available on McMaster Carr for a few dollars.

Build on!
