Default general statement

I read "The Great Race" posts, like I read all of them, looking for insight, humor and general genius from the community. What struck my interest were the general statements we make against our fellow pilots. Why would we assume nothing but danger in the skies with a bunch of 500hour pilots on a long cross country? Do we mean VFR pilots with poor judgement? non-commercial? low time IFR? I dont mean to pick on that thread or anyone who posted in it because we have all grouped pilots into hour catagories claiming they are all they same. If we cant give each other the benefit of doubt (until proven otherwise) then how can we unite and respond to the actual uniformed. The uninformed public already believes that they hear the JET sputter before impact or the plane crashed because they didnt file a flight plan. just some observations on a late monday nite.
