Default Valuable FWF photo

In http://www.ouchrockgallery.com , click on "Events" then Taylor 100 Air Race. Then scroll down the left side and click on A4CW0176_RJ.jpg.

This is a photo of Race #73 (which belongs to Steve Hammer one of the Hammer Brothers Race Team) with the cowl off. This is a ~250 mph fixed gear Glasair. According to Mike Thompson in his write-up of the race the brothers change props for the race but notice the exhaust pipe configuration, the cowl outlet configuration the wrapped inductions tubes, etc. not to mention the prop shaft extension. His brother Bruce won the 100 mile essentially triangular race in the FX Blue class (Fixed Gear, 360 cu. in., non-RV) at 253.9 mph in his similar Glasair Race #91. Only Duncan Southerland was faster in his SX-300 at 290 mph in the Sport class.

Full results at http://www.sportairrace.org. Mike Thompson's Newsletter at that site gives a good run down of the event.
