Everywhere I look I see seemingly beautifully built RV's having engine-outs. Seems like way more than shouldbe happening. Glad this one had a happy ending, but over mountains, water, etc., things would not have been so good.

Interesting
Interesting that the story didn't even mention it was an "Experimental" plane.
Better story that is usually published...

Great Ending to a "What if?"
As I listened and read this story, I saw the quote from Mr. Laurie that said...
"We both kind of said in unison, 'Uh oh,'"
I may be wrong, but I translate that to mean...oh sh%$t!
Great job in saving both two fellow pilots and the plane.

Familiar Landing Site
First of all, good landing and a tribute to your piloting skill. I grew up in Evergreen and I know that is the only open area around there. Your photos made me alittle home sick. My grandfather homesteaded a valley on Upper Bear Creek. It is a very mountainous area. The golf course south of there is also very steep and I can't imagine finding a place to land.
Did you find out what caused the problem??
I concur that there seems to be too many forced landings. Are we as a group not doing enough to QC our projects. As I finish mine, I think I will have another expert look at my project again. Always better on the safe side.
