Because there are many computers out there that "search out" e-mail addresses for the purpose of sending spam and/or viruses. If you don't use the "@" sign, these computers don't recognize it as an e-mail address.

I ordered my new kits about the sametime you started asking for deals on kits. Vans called last week, they're ready to ship.
Bad news, I'm on Vacation so I'm not home to get them.
Good news, I'm in Oregon and will stop by the factory to check them out.
