Tall pilot mod

I currently have the standard front seat placement in our RV-8 but both my son and I need more room. We do have the in-flight adjustable pedals. Legroom isn't a problem, we both are just sitting too close to the panel. We previously owned another 8 and this was not an issue so, we suspect it had the tall pilot option. First step in the tall pilot option seems to be to move the bottom hinge point of the seat back about 1-1.5 inches. I can do this while waiting on the weldment. When doing this, it appears that you have to shorten and redrill the seatbelt attach straps. Is that correct?
