Default lycoming oil sump

will a o-320 E2A sump fit a o-360 A2G engine. or will horizontal setup (rear) work in a RV7?

The sump will physically bolt onto the crankcases,no problem. However, O-320 carburetor engines usually come with the smaller MA - 4 carburetor. The -E2A model was only rated at 150 horsepower. You're O-360 uses an MA - 4.5 carburetor, which is larger than the MA - 4. The intake tubes and the intake Runners inside the sump for that -E2A engine are going to be smaller than the ones on your 360. You could cobble up some kind of adapter, but there's going to be a horsepower penalty for doing it. You really want to get the sump off of a 360. There are builders who have adapted a horizontal rear-facing sump to work on taildragger RVs. Why not just look for an IO - 360 - A xx sump? Those lower case X's indicate that those two places are not critical in the model number. Angle valve 360 sumps will fit on both 360 and 320 parallel engines. The angle valve sumps have the additional benefits of having tuned, equal length intake runners and they are also referred to as cold sumps. That means that the oil in the sump does not heat the intake air as much as the standard carbureted parallel valve engines do. You'll generally gain a couple of horsepower by using the angle valve sump and intake runners. The IO-360-M1B parallel valve engine also uses this sump system.
