Cylinder ID?

How do you go about identifying cylinder type on an installed IO-360 without logbooks?

Not mine, I have a friend looking at purchasing an engine. Mine is happy and healthy (and fully logged).

If it's an ECI cylinder, the s/n is stamped on the top side of the cylinder. You can only read it on two of the four cylinders....
