Default RV electrical system

We recently purchased an RV-8 built by my wife?s father. I?m learning more about this plane each day. Instead of a simple electric bus bar, it appears that all the electrical switching goes through a circuit panel then through a ribbon to a display unit on the instrument panel that shows any faults. Does anyone know anything about this system.... who it is made by or how I can get more info on it? I can?t find any name on it....

Sorry, I?m not sure how to paste a picture here.

Default Welcome to VAF, and Congratulations

Jim, welcome aboard the good ship VAF

Congrats on the new bird-----fun.

It sounds like you may have am older Vertical Power unit installed-----Google may fine the manuals for it. http://www.verticalpower.com/

Photos are not pasted, they are hosted on a seperate site, then a link is inserted in a post via the square yellow icon above the typing field.

There is a tutorial http://www.vansairforce.net/articles...ums/images.htm

Default Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply. Doing research, I?ve found out that the bus circuit board is an EXPBUS with a remote indicator module. Aircraft Spruce sells a newer version (mine has remote switching). I have tried calling to get information but their phone numbers seem to be disconnected..... I?ll start another thread to see if I can find anyone who might have more info....

Thanks again!!

-Jim
