Default Ring gear orientation?

I just had a close look at my ring gear prior to installing the prop and noticed that the 20|23|25 markings on the front and back don't match. Which one is correct and does it matter at this point how I orient the gear?

The unit should only fit one way due to one of the prop drive bushings being larger.

The timing marks are on the rear side to line up with the crankcase split, the ones on the front line up with a pin that you insert into a hole in the starter.

To add to Mike's answer, the rear facing numbers line up with the TOP of the case.
