Default Hole distance

Hello all

I know the 2x the diameter rule for the rivet holes in aluminum as far as minimum spacing is concerned
My question is
I?m installing my engine control cables through thebfirewal. My passthrough fittings require a one inch hole
Can anyone tell me what the minimum spacing is between the holes if I?m going through stainless and the fittings have a back plate that acts like a doubler
Thanks in advance
