Exclamation Service Bulletin - Electric Flap Bearing Retention

Posted to Vans Thursday, April 12, 2007

SB07-4-12

On the web page its states "All RV models with electric flaps", but the bulletin itself does not mention RV-3's or -10s, so not sure about that one

Thats odd. Its it my instructions from 3 years ago. I guess they added it so they could say it was out there for everyone.

Default What size hole to drill?

Stupid question... but I am early enough in my build that this is the first safety wire issue I've run into (clearly documented in the seven manual and plans, so this SB is not new or a surprise to me).

Smallest bit I can find at the local HD is 1/16th, but that seems a tad large yet.

Are there standard size holes for safety wire, and if so, where to source the drill bits?

Thanks.

Unhappy SERVICE BULLETIN

It apparently is in the plans for some of the newer models. Not in my RV-4 plans. On a another post on this forum earlier this week, an RV-4 pilot has his flaps fail while landing. This was the problem. An RV-9 builder posted a copy of his plans for review.

And I just re-installed my actuator last week after removal to solder on lead wires!
