Default Cockpit/glare-shield lighting

What?s the best cockpit/glare-shield lightening color?...blue or red? In the old steam-gauge days, red was what was used to project down on the panel to illuminate the gauges and preserved your night vision, but that may have changed now with glass cockpits and LED lighting.

Mark,

I used white and dim it way down. The lettering on my panel is white and shows up great with very dim light on it. I can turn it up high enough to read a newspaper if I want to.
