I need a measurement of the thickness of the ring gear assy. where it bolts to the crankshaft flange. IOW: how thick is the flywheel?

Measured with micrometer mine is .249" or just under 1/4"

I just measured a Superior Air Parts starter ring gear and came up with similar reading. 0.2516" using my micrometer. If I ran some scotch bright over mine, I expect that I would get a slightly smaller reading.

The part I measured was removed from an engine that was removed from a flying airplane yesterday and has had no cleaning. I was wiped with a RED rag and measured.

That's great thanks, I probably should have asked how thick the prop flange is on the crank itself also.

my crank flange thickness measured .439" on the YIO-360M1B.

The Superior Air Parts crankshaft flange sitting in my hangar was just measured at: 0.4435" and that may include some dirt.

Lycoming has SB201F that has minimum thickness and allowable tolerance listed.
