Default Leading Edge Landing Light Replacement BULB???

Has anyone replaced their old original plan bulb with an LED bulb instead of replacing the whole unit with a Baja or duckworks?

Also, does anyone know where I can get the nav LED bulbs that have wig-wag in them already? I check pilotlghts and their website isn't working or they don't sell them any longer.

I cut the original Duckworks mounts to hold one spot and one flood light ($36 ea). Way brighter than the 55 halogen but not as bright as more expensive LEDs. Amp load is much less too.

Thanks so much! this will be a super helpful when trying to reduce amp power draw. Did you do this post build/retrofit?

Default $90 Hikari H4 thread

Great Hikari H4 thread.
$90 buys "13200 lumens"
http://www.vansairforce.com/communit...ghlight=Hikari

There is also a $70 version at "9600 lumens"

I did not see an actual Amp draw on them, if you need to reduce the typical 5 amp per bulb draw, I went with $120 each Rigid LED 1800 Lumen spots 3 years back with a Kuntzleman $40 wig wag. 2 Amps each, probably 1/3 better light than the first reply cheapies, but 2x better throw. They are silent and one step above basic $5 55W halogen bulbs at under 1/2 draw. The counter is you can upgrade to a bigger alternator at this cost if using auto alternators. If you need more light at night than 55W halogens, a separate issue than saving Amps, I'd go with the Hikaris, they probably draw 5 to 6 amps. More than that would melt the light wiring on new car headlamp harnesses.

Rigid Industries 62110 R-Series PAR-36 1800-Lumen Spot Lamp https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AMELIJ6..._3DE0BbP0V3EQF

Flashing Nav lights are not FAR/CFR, plus the PSA set on Spruce were way noisy even ferrite choked. Under the red and green lens their color looked blueish vs green and orange vs. Red

If replacing Grimes Navs, for $50, more light, 1/4 the draw, try:

If you need to save more power, at $40 these are great anticollision beacons 360 degree, red- https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...g-lights/1905/

If you want the latest greatest VAF sponsor gear, these may be fit:

Thanks! I would like to know what the HIKARI's draw. 12000 lumen is crazy for a direct replacement bulb.

Thanks,
D

Agreed.

Judging by the tiny wires on my 2017 Honda harness and the hunted draw of a 5030 led at .2 amps, 12 per bulb, under 3 Amps each is my guess.

The later generation $90 kit is reported silent of EMI noise.

I believe the rating on the Rigids, not the Hikaris, so I put them in "quotes".

If doing again today, the $90 Hikari, if a drop-in fit, would surely be my first choice.
