Default How do you decode grey code?

I am trying to debug problems with my BMA EFIS G3 Lite to GNS 430. On the ground with the 430 in debug mode I was seeing 0010110000 grey code while the EFIS (when set to 29.92) was saying -20 feet.
Is this correct?
How is grey code decoded?

Kent
