Default IFR near OSH ??

Its looking like low ceilings in Chicago on Sunday, but will open up in Wisconsin a bit. I was thinking of filing IFR to an airport near OSH so that I can get out of Chicago. I figure Appleton and FonDuLac are booked, like OSH, but wondering if airports 100 miles away will have similar restrictions or limitations in taking IFR flight plans. I could either land there and wait for better ceilings or cancel and continue VFR. I don't want to do the whole flight at 1500'

Does anyone have experience with this?

Larry

Download the AirVenture NOTAM and look up the IFR arrivals procedures.

Larry,

I usually file IFR to West Bend ETB to get following across Lake Michigan. When close to ETB,the controller usually asks if I want to cancel and continue VFR.

Duh! I should have looked there first. I only remembered this having OSH arrivals when I reviewed last year. That was easy and I got want I wanted. Wasn't expecting that.

Thanks much Ed!
