Default VOR antenna wiring

I have a Bob Archer wingtip VOR antenna. The instructions call out the wingtip light/strobe wiring run along the short side of the antenna. Trouble is, unlike the older wingtips, the wiring exits the corner of the wingtip about halfway along that "short side". Should I run the wire out to the end of the short leg of the antenna before running it back to the wing or should I run it straight to the antenna leg (about mid-way) then run it along that leg, back to the wing?

Amazing, the number of things one runs into that stop forward progress while the issue is pondered ad nauseum!
