Default GPS 396 Mount for Standard 3" Round Instrument Opening

Hey Guys!

I want to get rid of the temporary suction cup mount I've been using in the RV-6 and replace it with a mount that would work with a standard 3" instrument opening. We're replacing an older 3" round Apollo GPS that just isn't as nice to fly with as the 396...

Have you seen any of these out there or anyone that has fabbed something up that I could look at?

THANKS GUYS!!!

- Peter

Peter,
Dan Checkoway documented how he mounted his 396 here:

Looks like you could easily modify it to attach to a 3" blank.

I just bought a marine mount like this http://cgi.ebay.com/Garmin-Marine-Mo...QQcmdZViewItem
and attached it to a metal plate that I mounted inside the panel using the existing instrument mounting hole screws.

I don't have a photo but from the pilot's view it looks just like the picture of Dan Checkoway's referenced above. It is adjustable for tilt and level but cannot be adjusted side to side.

Very simple. I'm not big on fabricating anything I don't have to.
