Default Cheaper light bulb source

I just had my tail position light burnout on my Whelen A500 unit. Spruce and Sky Geek want over $20 for the A508-14 replacement halogen bulb. After scouting around on the web, I found a couple of sources.

This link shows a supplier that has them for about $10. http://www.bulbtronics.com/technolog...-erc-1991.html
My bulb burned out at about 200 hours, which was right at the life limit stated.

Here's another source that supplies them for about $4, but has a $25 minimum order. http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/eca...roductCode=ERC

I know the savings numbers are dwarfed by the outsized cost of many of the items we use and I'm not that much of a cheapskate, but paying over $20 plus shipping for a small, flashlight-sized bulb just annoyed me, so I got 4 bulbs and some D-cell batteries from Atlanta Light Bulb for what Sky Geek and Spruce wanted for 1 bulb.

You just gotta love these forums and the search function.

I recently had a tail nav light (A508-14) burn out and was about to start researching a cheaper source... but first, a quick search through the archives. Lo and behold, someone's already done the legwork. Yea!

So it's been over a year since the initial post here, but I'll say it anyway;
Thanks Mike!

Default Burned out bulb

Just had my bulb burn out as well. Dang I wish I LED.
I'll take the plunge at some point.

It appears one of the links do not work. If you need to search, it is a ERC 25W T3.25 or T3 1/4 but is still $10.35

The bulb is a Sylvania ERC 1991. Just bought one on eBay for $5.63 with free shipping.

PSA Enterprises (used to be PSA Trimcraft) has led replacement bulbs that will plug right in to your standard nav light sockets. Give them a call and talk to Mary. I believe ACS also carries their bulbs.

Anybody have an affordable substitution for a Sandel light bulb replacement?

Default LED Replacement...

I found the following @ Mouser Electronics;

Dialight - 586-2206-203F and
JKL - LE-0903-02W

Both are T3.25 ( or T3 1/4 or T10 ) wedge base.

I ordered the JKL and will report back

And yes, I know that this isn't "approved" per 14 CFR 91.205...just a thought experiment.
