Default Used 496 cost?

Mornin' all,
A friend of mine has a new Cirrus 22 and is going to sell his Garmin 496 since the Avidyne has moving weather, etc. What is a fair price for an excellent condition used 496?
Thanks,
Pierre

Default Check eBay

Pierre:

Check "Garmin" on eBay, but I think about 75% of new is fair, say $2000-$2100 would be tops. If he is a really good friend, with lots of $$$, $1800 would be fair. Since I know the guy, $1800 is a good starting offer. If you do not want it at that range, let me know.

Hi Robby,

Default About $2400-$2500

No offense the above suggest TOP price is low:

eBay's last Garmin 496's sold for:
$2425 (note: not really ever used, 35 bids open auction)
$2575 (note: hardly used, bought with "buy now")
$2755 (note: extra accessories "city nav")

$2425 would be a fair price*.

Current street price $2795.

As a seller fair is as much as you can get, right. $2000-$2100, have to disagree, that is below market, it would be a deal and I'd buy it for $2000. Market is simply what they sell for, right. Considering the three auctions I think $2400-$2500 is fair. A data point a recondition Garmin 396 from a dealer is $1895.

*Assume in very good condition and accessories / manuals are there
