Default Airstop valve core issue

We just redid tires and tubes during the condition inspection.

Replaced the old with brand new Michelin Airstop tubes, just purchased from ACS with date of manufacture listed as "MAI-2017"

We had a hard time getting them to take air, and when we tried to remove the valve core both cores were stuck firmly in the valve stem and came apart during removal:

With some difficulty we were able to remove the remaining piece of the cores using the reverse thread part of the tool.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
